About Us |
| The Humboldt Woodworking Society is
created to support education in woodworking, and to
foster the growth of woodworking skill within the North
Coast region of California by: |
- Supporting and providing formal
and informal education in woodworking
- Increasing public awareness of
and knowledge about woodworking
- Fostering best practices in
woodworking including sustainable use of wood and
woodworking techniques that produce durable objects
of beauty and utility
- Fostering community among
woodworkers
|
The Humboldt Woodworking
Society organizes and presents WoodFair each
year in cooperation with our educational
partner, College of the Redwoods, and our host,
Almquist Lumber Company. We provide
opportunities for woodworkers to grow in their
craft through show and sale of their woodworking
products at partner galleries. We provide
educational opportunities for woodworkers at our
monthly meetings, and we provide opportunities
to build community among woodworkers through
social events including an annual barbeque, an
annual pizza feed, and an annual holiday party.
Integrated into our ongoing activities, we raise
funds to support WoodFair, including its formal
educational aspects, and we raise funds to
support scholarships for College of the Redwoods
woodworking students.
