Minutes of the Regular Monthly Meeting

Called to order @ 7:00PM

1. Election of Officers for 2010: The Board of Directors
nominated the following slate as announced in the
newsletter.

Susan Bicknell announced that Verne Frost has
withdrawn his name from consideration for Program
Coordinator due to time constraints, but promises to
serve in the future. The slate except for the program
Coordinator was moved by Susan Bicknell & seconded by
Dennis Musselmen. The motion passed unanimously. Susan
Bicknell nominated Joel McCoy for program Coordinator.
Cheryl Baer seconded the nomination. The motion was
unanimously approved by all.
2. Stephen Baer
- Thanked everyone for coming
- Presented an Almquist $50 gift certificate to
Doralee Smith for her several years of hard work as
program coordinator.
- Announced that 24 members participated in the
Almquist Holiday Gift Gallery.
- $290/participant was the average amount sold.
Redwood items sold very well, possibly because they
make very good gifts for out-of-towners.
- Announced he is in need of containers for nuts
- Asked members email him if we have or need any
particular tool or wish to share a woodworking
technique or tip, so it can be published on our
newly updated HWS website.
3. Harvey Raider brought a clever tool holder he made
for attaching to his lathe, which he made from scrap
wood.
4. Susan Bicknell gave Tom Cover some Madrone and Yew
logs that he is drying and making into bowl blanks to
sell at the Wood Fair to help raise money for the
scholarship. Steve Baer announced that the HWS CR
Scholarship Fund presently has $500 in it.
5. Cheryl Baer announced that she was giving away a
scroll saw. Lynn Dixon gladly gave it a new home.
6. Steve Anglin passed out a box of small, watertight
containers he wished to recycle.
7. Don Bicknell, our new treasurer, reminded us that our
2010 years dues are now due.
8. Our next HWS event will be the April Show at the Old
Town Art Gallery (233 F Street, Eureka). Applications
(pictures are required for those who have not been
accepted for the previous show in spring of 2009) are
due by March 10th. This show will last for the entire
month of April starting on the 3rd (Arts Alive). One
person at a time will be featured in their front window.

9. Next regular meeting will be at 7PM, February 25th at
Marimba One Corp (10th and O Street, Arcata). Come
through the double glass doors. They will be
demonstrated their 25-Horse power CNC router. CNCs
(Computer Numerical Controlled) routers are
computer-controlled machines for cutting wood, plastic,
or metal.
